Overview
The purpose of the CIV Program is to help develop a future where both individuals and communities can reap the benefits of personal commitment and free will. This will enable the Volunteers gain practical experience, to improve their employability, be socially integrated by participating in community-based projects in the rural areas.

The CIV internship programme provides opportunities for learning, interacting and exposure. Its objective is to develop and enhance young people’s skills in leadership, programme management, report writing and analysis, research and documentation, information management, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), and resource centre management.

Prior to the end of the Internship program, ALIN will publicize the availability of the interns, highlighting their strengths among potential organisations or employers.

Criteria for Selection

  • Between the age of 18 to 35 years
  • Citizen and resident of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania
  • Must have at least a Diploma or a degree in in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Mass Communication, Education, and other related Arts and Science subjects.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English, Kiswahiili and a local language in any of the areas where the CKCs are located.
  • Must ably demonstrate how they will apply their skills to support local content generation and dissemination.
  • Must have excellent writing skills -to be tested through a written test
  • Must be willing to live and work where the rural areas where the CKCs are located

Requirements for the Application Process

  • Curriculum vitae-not more than 3 A4 pages, including three referees,
  • One recent colour passport photo-(either scan one or send by post)
  • Copy of academic certificates
  • One A4 page of written work in any field

ALIN provides a monthly stipend for each intern. Each volunteer is entitled to two weeks leave. The deadline for submission is 15 February every year. You can download a volunteer development kit
