Baobab Journal: The journal, published three times a year, is primarily a forum for ALIN Network members to exchange development ideas and experiences on ALIN's five key thematic areas of focus i.e agricultural production techniques, environment management, market information, gender, health and HIV and AIDS. ALIN had by 2009 published 55 issues of the Baobab over a period of 18 years for its members, most of whom are change agents based at the grassroot level. Baobab CDs are also available and focus on topical areas such as agricultural techniques, participatory rural appraisal, cereal banks, community development projects, savings and credit, forestry, pastoralism, gender, water development, health, appropriate technologies and food security.
Joto Afrika: The journal is produced by ALIN in partnership with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) Knowledge Services and the AfricaAdapt Network. Joto Afrika focuses on thematic areas around climate change adaptation and development. It draws lessons, experiences and practical information from across sub-Saharan Africa including summaries of academic research on climate change, written in a clear easy-to-read style, case studies of community based knowledge and action in response to climate change and feedback from readers. It targets NGOs, government officials, researchers, decision makers, planning departments, CBOs and all individuals in Africa who need to know about climate change adaptation at the regional and local level. First issue was produced in June 2009.
Leisa for Eastern Africa: In May 2009, ALIN joined the Leisa (Low External Input and Sustainable Agriculture) network as one of its six global hubs. A product of this partnership is the Leisa for Eastern Africa, a journal that identifies promising technologies involving little or marginal external inputs, but building on local knowledge and traditional technologies involving small-holder farmers. It highlight success stories from small-scale farmers, and provides accounts for practical experiences on farming methods, debates, background information to news on knowledge and information on sustainable small holder farming around the world. Leisa journal targets farmers, field workers, researchers, and policy makers.
